The WWII Holiday Musical Play

The Christmas from Home series recreates a live Christmas radio show broadcast from Portland, Oregon during WWII complete with a band, sketches, singers, vintage ads and period sound effects. The blend of humor and poignancy, big band sound and true stories combine to make an evening full of great entertainment.

Christmas From Home is a five year series, beginning in 1941. The plays were written by local author Pat Kruis Tellinghusen. Step into the time machine and join us for a 1940's Christmas!

1943 - Hope & Home For Christmas

The 1943 play features the story of Sgt. Kenny Saito, a young Japanese-American who left his family at the Minidoka internment camp to serve his country in the Army. Our overzealous ration board officer Clyde Hoffstettler experiences his own "Casablanca", and two young soldiers Jack and Jimmy have returned to recount their first mission with the 10th Mountain Division on Kiska island.
